The online Poppy Playtime games are horror & survival games that were first released in 2021 for the Windows platform & then in 2022 — for iOS & Android platforms. The freely playable Poppy Playtime games are single-player games, where the character named Huggy Wuggy is introduced. Later, his associates a.k.a. alive toy friends are also introduced — for instance, we find out about Kissy Missy (who is a female embodiment of Huggy Wuggy, colored in pink).
In the original games, a plot presupposes the following. A player receives a note from a former employee of Playtime Co., where he used to work, too. The note calls to enter the abandoned factory of the company to search for answers. And it seems impossible because that person, who seemingly wrote the note, was considered dead for 10 years. A player gets to the factory only to find out that it is now flooded with alive toys, the biggest part of which are Huggy Wuggy & Kissy Missy. They are scary toys per se but the fact that they are animated now makes them ten times scarier. Especially given their nightmarish appearance (the most frightening part of which is the sharp long teeth in their mouths). The task of a player is not only to stay alive in the skirmish but also to progress through the levels to unriddle a mystery, which is unveiled to them through findings of VHS tapes, each giving a small part of deeper insight. A player also ought to unlock doors, find other items, perform tasks & earn the in-game currency.
